School Based Apprenticeships & Traineeships (SBAT's) PDF Print E-mail

The South Eastern BEC assists with the coordination of School Based Apprenticeships and Traineeships for high schools in the surrounding region, excluding the ACT.

School Based Apprenticeships and Traineeships are part of the Federal Government’s Retention and Engagement Strategy and the aim is to encourage students to complete their senior secondary education while gaining entry level qualifications, therefore ensuring a successful transition from school to work.

School Based Apprenticeships and Traineeships provide employers with a more flexible and cost effective way to access and train entry level staff, a range of incentives may be available particularly if your industry is a designated skills shortage area.

Students entering their senior secondary years at school are able to complete their Higher School Certificate, and fast track an apprenticeship or traineeship in their chosen field.

Students completing a School Based Apprenticeship will attend school three days per week, spend one day per week at the Registered Training Organisation (RTO) such as CIT or TAFE and one day per week in paid on the job training.

If you are an employer wanting to take advantage of this exciting new training option or would like further information please call Jasmin Blake the Work Place Learning Coordinator on 0400 843 212
