Career and Transition Support Program
The primary role of LCP's under the CTS Program is to facilitate access for young people to a range of career and transition support services which link with and complement existing programs and services at the local LCP Service Region level.
Some aims of Career and Transition Support include:

-
helping young people understand their post-school options
-
making it easier for students to access career advice
-
promoting vocational and technical education and training
-
encouraging parents, teachers and career advisers to better communicate.
The Capital Region LCP works with schools, industry, business and community groups to analyse the region and identify needs or gaps within existing services. We look at the local situation and the services already being delivered by schools, and then focus on the best ways to support schools to build on and improve these services.
Under Career and Transition Support, the Capital Region LCP works closely with schools in our region to make sure students have access to a range of career and transition support services.
Local businesses can get involved in Career and Transition Support in various ways including:
- exhibiting at local career expos
- participating in mentoring programs
- offering excursions, visits or tours of their business or industry
- participating in student interview and résumé workshops
- serving as guest speakers.

For Schools:
How the Career and Transition Support Program can support you.
The role of the Career and Transition Program Coordinator is to work with the Principals, Careers Advisers, and VET Coordinators in schools to support programs already running, identify gaps where support is required and assist with those programs schools would like to develop.
In DET schools, this would mean involvement in activities that are part of School to Work programs. For all schools this would also mean working with staff members who are running a range of transition/career development programs for students.
The role includes the promotion of vocational education and training pathways and opportunities.
The role also involves attending Youth Interagency networks as they exist within the region, to get an understanding of the different services available for young people and support schools by linking them with particular services you may require.
In Career and Transition Support, Local Community Partnerships do not directly deliver the services to young people. Their role is to facilitate organisations to work together to increase the availability of, access to and quality of such services within the region
Specific activities to support schools:
