Air Commodore Jack Plenty is the Director General of the Headquarters Joint Operation Command Project.

He is an excellent speaker and will be giving an update on the project and its impact on the local business community.

Construction is expected to start in the middle of 2005, and the headquarters is expected to be fully operational in 2007-2008.

The project, worth in excess of $200 million for building and infrastructure, is expected to generate major economic benefits for the Queanbeyan region.

The state of the art headquarters to be built on a site near Bungendore, will have about 1,000 operational staff (approximately 400-500 families).

Opportunities for local businesses include design and associated consultancy services for IT, architectural, electrical and mechanical requirements, plus contracts for cleaning, maintenance, catering and other support services

The new headquarters will combine seven existing military headquarters and agencies situated in around Sydney into one state of the art facility.
