Minister for Regional Development Minister for the Illawarra Minister for Small Business Member for Keira The Minister David Campbell will be speaking about the role Small Business plays in NSW and the programs available to support small business. David Campbell was born in Bulli on July 27, 1957, in the heart of the seat he now represents in the NSW Parliament. He is married to Edna and they have two adult sons. After four years as councillor on Wollongong City Council, and eight years as the Lord Mayor of Wollongong, he was elected as the Member for Keira in March 1999. He was re-elected in March 2003, and became a minister. During his first term as a Member of the Legislative Assembly he: · chaired the Joint Standing Committee on Children and Young People; · chaired the Joint Select Committee on the Quality of Buildings; and · was a member of the Joint Standing Committee on Road Safety (Staysafe). He has experience as: · a member of the executive of the NSW Local Government Association · deputy chair of the Local Government Superannuation Scheme · director, Port Kembla Port Corporation · chair, Illawarra Regional Development Board · chair, Wollongong City Gallery Board · deputy chair, Wollongong Sportsground Trust · deputy chair, Tourism Wollongong. David was appointed a Fellow of the University of Wollongong in 1995. In 2003, he became the NSW Parliament’s representative on the university council. He is the patron of numerous sporting clubs and cultural organisations. David’s policy interests include regional economic development, small business, urban planning, community access, and indigenous and community service issues. He is an avid sports fan, and a recreational swimmer.
