Network Breakfast - November 2004 June 2001
“The Art of Influence” Organisations are now flatter and overt power is less evident. Traditional authority models are less relevant if not obsolete. We work in teams and we would like to work co-operatively. We have less power so we need to cultivate influence. As influence is in the eye of the beholder, it is up to us to cultivate the perception. In this presentation Ian will reveal 5 steps towards becoming a person of influence. Previous attendees at this session have described it as well researched, well presented and containing many practical ideas for successful implementation. Ian will also answer questions and initiate discussion about key issues. Ian is a speaker, trainer and adviser to consultants, professional firms and to senior management in corporations on marketing and delivering professional services. Ian has a diverse career that lead to him establishing his own consultancy in 1987. He spoke at Queanbeyan BEC in November 2003 and was so well received that we had to have him back this year! Ian is a specialist in the marketing and delivering of professional services. This includes the need to develop influence. His book on this subject Consulting Contracting & Freelancing has just been published by Allen & Unwin and Ian has had recent significant exposure on radio, in the press and in specialist media areas. He runs consulting skills workshops and regularly works with consulting units and firms as a facilitator and trainer. His clients include legal and accounting firms and professional bodies in all Australian states. |
